Still feasting on last Sunday's sermon. During the sermon our pastor mention this:
"Nowhere's in the bible do I find how others are to treat you but how you are to treat others"
It matters not whether they are believers or not, church goers or not, so called Christians or not, real or fake.
The Bible does not tell us how they are to treat us as an order, but how we are to treat others, from the Old Testament to the New Testament it echoes how we are to treat others. People who claim Christ, go to complaining how others treat them, or respond, well sorry The Bible tells you how to treat them, so for me or anyone to go to complaining is to be the same as they who tear us apart. Are we above them? Don't we serve a living Christ? Who willingly bear suffering and pain.
So pray tell, tell me where in the Bible it tells how others are to treat you. I find multitudes of scriptures, speaking we will be ill treated, persecuted, defamed, put down, criticized, from without and within. I find we are to not rile back but press on. So when oneness belittles a trinitarian there is something wrong your Christ spirit, like trinities calling oneness a cult, show me name calling in the bible. With that consider these scriptures:
Exo 23:4 If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.
Exo 23:5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
(No we would probably turn our heads instead of helping)Mat 5:39 But I say unto you,
That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
(So they give a ill comment, or advice, or brand you - so what)1Th 5:15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but
ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. (all men irregardless of their belief system)Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you,
Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 1Co 4:12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
1Co 4:13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
1Ti 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
2Co 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
2Co 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2Co 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
(were do we put our trust and hope)2Co 7:6 Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
1Pe 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
(It always does us good to read the beatitudes) 2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but
for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (Ah if we bear it patiently through our trials we shall come forth as gold what a divine promise)Mat 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Mat 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Pro 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
Pro 25:22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
(what a way to get revenge - contrary to our human thinking)2Sa 16:11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.
2Sa 16:12 It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.
(David conducted himself as Christ, bearing the reproach gladly)1Pe 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
(not complaining)1Co 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Finally Charity = Love. So do we lack love or do we press towards that High Calling!!!
So let's see the conclusion of the matter, we are to treat others as Christ did, and does. We can expect ill treatment coming our way, and if can't endure that - then how are ever going to overcome the world? Get Christ in your life and you have the overcomer!
